And that's week 3 on relationship!

Please feel free to C&C! They help me to improve!

Thanks for viewing :bsmilie:

Week 4:
Topic: Complex
Number: 16 Photos

My focus this time around is on architecture. Having only Saturday to shoot is really tough to come up with 16. Thank God the weather and lighting is good!

Kinda forgot to mention, Week 5's assignment is to use 2 previously taken photos to make a composite, to whatever degree. (we bargained cause all having midterms, too busy!)

Finally, updates! Flickr got stuck uploading just 4 small and simple files for Week 5's assignments for weeks! 3 weeks in fact. It was truly bubble-bursting.

Anyhow, here's Week 5's Assignment:

Task: 1 photo composite
How: Use elements of 2 photos previously taken.

I chose to use something I took "relatively" long ago, sometime in May I think. I've tried a HDR on this before using photomatix software. Decided to try manual blending instead.

Normal EV:

EV -1:

When I saw these two pictures I thought to myself...oh my. Slanted horizon. (I did reshoot later in the shoots, but these were the only ones that had the lighting i wanted). Composition wise wasn't that good either. I gotta keep these older photos to mark progress.

Blended shot:

How-i-did-it-screenie:

This screenie is not a show-off screenie. It's for me to keep a record of how I did what I did, and to learn new ways to improve. In the course of researching (after this assignment) I continued researching on HDR techniques using manual blending, inspired by some seniors here. I came across one which used either monochrome or black/white mode to be used as layer mask, can't really remember.

Here's the link:
http://photoshoptutorials.ws/photoshop-tutorials/photo-retouching/hdr-tone-mapping-with-layers-in-photoshop.html

I'm a newbie in photoshop so there is still alot to learn, many ways to achieve a desired outcome. Hope to progress and find the "better" way, if there is. Sadly, photoshop doesn't like my computer and it proves very very challenging to use. Laggy, jerky, and crashes after 15mins or so, or using brushes just a little too much for this com crashes it. Does not help in the interest category!

Week 6

More photoshop!?

It's not that I hate photoshop. I love it! I just hate running it on my computer, it's almost counter-productive. Few days back I was dodge-burning a portraiture and for many times:

1) the whole picture turned complete black. I thought it was just a display problem. Saving the file and loading it...gives complete black.
2) The crashing problem, doing dodge/burn --> Nvidia card crashes, OpenGL issue. etc etc.

If anyone has any ideas, please, tell me!

Anyhow, the photos:

Theme: Photo manipulation
Ranks 1 of 10 in my interest level - again because of PS performance issues.
How: Shoot a simple photo, and rearrange the elements of the photos. He calls them fragnals or freknals or fragnels? Have no idea. Why not just fragments...

Original (cropped, perspective'ed):

Woodhole V1:

Woodhole V2 (final):

Evidently, I am no good in this. "Attempted" to dodge/burn to make V2 more 3D. Again, it keeps crashing after 5-10minutes, sometimes forgetting to save is a pain.

Not something I'd do ever...not cut out to be a DI. Nevertheless...good exercise.

And...week 7.

(and i thought the worst was over...)

Theme:Simulated Motion
Photos:24 shots, I only completed 16.

The idea:

Shoot a series of still images and arrange them sequentially such that when you go from the first photo to the last you "see" motion.

Criteria: NOT the same subject.

Example:
Photo 1: Parked red Honda
Photo 2: (elsewhere) White Mercedes slightly coming out of carpark
Photo 3: (else elsewhere) Black Van slightly turning of the lot
...
...
Photo 24: xxx vehicle going off into the distance

Bombshell: "you can't shoot cars after i give this example"

Bigger bombshell: "you all have to use your handphone cameras to do this assignment". I nearly fainted.

Hopefully I can upload this assignment some time this week.

And...I decided not to upload Assignment 7... it was...just not my thing.

However, I'm pleased to share (whoever actually comes this thread .... lol) that I've completed my final assignment! And here it is...
